Creating Community at ATD’s 2018 International Conference & Expo (ICE)

When was the last time you intentionally connected with your colleagues for professional development? One of my favorite opportunities for networking and learning is coming up soon! The ATD 2018 International Conference & Expo (ICE) will be held May 6-9, 2018 in San Diego. With over 10,000 attendees from all over the world, 400 speakers (including President Barack Obama) and 300 educational sessions, and a huge vendor expo, it’s one of my must-attend annual events.

This year is extra special, as ATD will be celebrating 75 years as a leader in the talent development industry. They know the importance of belonging to a community of professionals and foster this by hosting this annual can’t-miss conference.

Will you be in attendance this year? If so, I hope to see you there!

This year, I’ve got three scheduled events: a panel discussion on Monday, an author meet-n-greet at the ATD Store on Tuesday, and a brand new session on Tuesday afternoon about digital literacy for virtual presenters, trainers and facilitators. Here are the details:

Craving Independence? Conquering the Fear of Going Solo!

In this panel discussion, my colleagues and I will be sharing the benefits, blessings, and challenges of owning a business in talent development.

Please join us for the above on Monday, May 7th at 4:30 pm PST (M308, Room 28)

Digital Fluency for Virtual Presenters, Trainers, and Facilitators

In this session, you’ll learn to assess your current “digital fluency” as a virtual presenter, trainer, or facilitator, use virtual platform tools to engage remote audiences and be able to create an action plan to increase your credibility in virtual events.

I’d love to see you in attendance on Tuesday, May 8th at 3:00 pm PST (TU310, Room 31)

If you’re able to attend, please stop by and say hello!

Can’t make the conference? Follow along all the highlights on the Twitter backchannel using hashtag #ATD2018.

It’s no surprise that 2020 has changed the landscape of virtual training in significant ways. While the live online virtual classroom has been around since the 1990s, and its use has steadily grown over time, the COVD-19 pandemic has skyrocketed online learning to the forefront of every organization’s mind. My own journey with virtual…

  • Work from Home Tips for Virtual Facilitators & Presenters

I’ve worked from home or on the road for over 16 years, and have taught thousands of online classes along the way. My advice for getting ready to teach or present online has always included being “extra-prepared” like a world-class athlete. You’ve probably even used my “Extra-Prepared Virtual Trainer Checklist.”  But how does that advice stand…
